Donna Teague is happy to introduce her classic cuisine to friends in the Upstate! She’s best known for her crowd-pleasing chicken pot pie and cinnamon rolls, original recipes that were featured in Southern Living and Southern Living’s Home for the Holidays. However, Donna’s true culinary passion is creating recipes for petite appetizers and desserts, elegant morsels that are as delicious as they are beautiful. Read on to learn more about her sweets and savories.
Cranberry-Pecan Chicken Salad Tartlets receive rave reviews whenever they are served! Savory tartlet shells are filled with generous scoops of Donna’s acclaimed chicken salad, made with roasted chicken breast, dried cranberries, and chopped pecans. No one can eat just one!
Peanut Butter-Chocolate Ganache Tartlets reveal a surprise with the first bite! Hidden under the beautifully piped mound of peanut butter filling is a puddle of dark chocolate ganache. To gild the lily, Donna sprinkles the tartlets with dark chocolate shavings.
Key Lime Tartlets tantalize the taste buds! Donna pipes a luscious key lime filling into slightly sweet tartlet shells. Tart filling; sweet crust: you’ll appreciate the flavorful contrast!
Fresh Berry Tartlets showcase the season’s freshest berries. Donna spoons a delectable sweet cream filling into her savory tartlet shells and adds fresh blackberries or raspberries. Raspberry Tartlets are the all-time favorite of Furman students who attended the parties Donna hosted after her daughter’s concerts there.
Coconut Cream Tartlets and Banana Cream Tartlets add a touch of nostalgia to Donna’s dessert line. One glimpse of these miniature culinary masterpieces will transport you straight back to the pie case in a vintage diner!
Pecan Pie Tartlets are scrumptious, petite versions of the South’s favorite pie: pecan!
Chocolate Chip Cookies like you’ve never tasted before are created by Sweets and Savories. Using a recipe that she’s been tweaking since her days as a Furman student, Donna never compromises by using less expensive ingredients. In fact, if she’s out of her favorite premium chocolate chips (not available locally!), she refuses to bake the cookies!
Chocolate-Mint Ganache Brownies are the best bites of chocolate ever! The diminutive fudge brownie squares are layered with creamy white chocolate-mint ganache and rich dark chocolate-mint ganache.
Miniature Local Pies feature our region’s bountiful berries, peaches, apples, and pecans. Donna creates picture-perfect strawberry pies, glistening with sweetened glaze, in the spring; old-fashioned double-crust peach, blackberry, and blueberry pies in the summer; lattice-topped apple pies in the fall; and everyone’s favorite, Southern pecan pies, in the winter. Baked in Donna’s famous made-from-scratch crust, each 4-inch pie is perfect for one!
Chicken Pot Pie is Donna’s signature comfort food! Savory cream sauce filled with vegetables and roasted chicken; a flaky, melt-in-your-mouth crust; whimsical pastry chicken cut-outs: this entrée is sure to please family or friends.
Cafeteria Rolls were so named by Donna’s husband Sam who says they’re reminiscent of the rolls served in his elementary cafeteria!
Cinnamon Rolls are Sam’s favorite treat. When he attended grad school, his reward following class each night was a pan of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls! Southern Living really likes the rolls too: Donna’s recipe received the highest marks in their Test Kitchens in 2003 and was published twice in the magazine.
